The Silver Purse provides retirement planning guidance for women over 55.

The Silver Purse  was started in 2009 as a resource for women who seek a balanced and educated relationship with their money. Our goal for all women is financial security and the freedom of choices it brings.

Retirement planning in 2017 involves more than watching your money, though. The timing of when you stop working can have a big impact on your future financial stability. The timing of when you start Social Security checks can make a difference too. And don’t forget the role of simple things like where you live and how much you pay for your housing. We’ll explore these topics and more.

The Silver Purse offers principles of good retirement planning. The advice offered here is general in nature and may not fit your situation. Seek qualified help to address your specific financial questions or needs.

Robin Applegarth CRPC® is Community Manager for The Silver Purse. She is a financial literacy advocate, with a B.A. from the University of California, Riverside, and a certificate in Personal Financial Planning from UCR. She is also a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (sm), a certification from the College for Financial Planning.

She now enjoys writing about the “softer side” of retirement planning: transitioning into retirement, ways to enrich your over-60 years without spending more money, and how to make retirement income last as long as possible.
